CanUgan board member Jacqueline Tumusiime visited Kasese Uganda in December 2021. She got a chance to meet Peter and Robert and some members of the Kasese District Union of Persons with Disabilities (KADUPEDI). Jacqueline only had a short visit (2 hours) due to the heightened state of precautions to limit the spread of covid (omicron). Regardless, discussions occurred and centred on how to develop programs to train and provide persons with disabilities (PWDs) ways to find or create jobs. This is increasingly critical, as there is an increase in PWDs begging on the streets due to financial hardships. Building rental housing and planting cash crops that could be sold were a few ideas suggested to bring in income.
